Halloween is gaining some momentum in Australia, perhaps we all just need something else to focus on and a reason to get together and have some much-needed laughs! It's a pretty simple formula for success when it comes to any party; food, booze, and good friends. But here are our top 10 picks to ensure your party stands out from the rest...
1. Food is essential, but to stand out, it can't just taste good, it's got to make people laugh or maybe even dry reach a little! Here are some inappropriate suggestions.
2. Pumpkin Carving! An age-old Halloween tradition, this is a fun one for adults and children alike. To make it even more fun for the adults, set a challenge to come up with the most inappropriate carving, we found some great ones online to get you started.
3. Costume contest of course! Don't forget to organise some prizes for the winners from The Inappropriate Gift Co! In case you missed it, click here for some of the all-time funniest Halloween costumes from last year's blog on Halloween.
4. Music, what's a party without some tunes, of course, live music will always trump, if you are going all out this Halloween hire a band or a DJ and have them dress up! Could there be anything better than a vampire spinning the decks or a zombie mariachi band!
5. Decorations are everything when it comes to Halloween. Go as wild as you want, a haunted tunnel your guests enter through complete with a complimentary roll of toilet paper in case they shit themselves, or the bathrooms themed as a murder scene, make it a bit more light-hearted and write something funny on the mirror instead of "You're next", we like "We're out of Booze" or "Trump is up for Re-election"!
6. Games, these are always optional, and if you do have a spirit guide and a Day of the Dead mariachi band you can probably leave this one out. If it is just a small haunt, some great icebreaker games for Halloween could be a mummy wrapping game, which involves a lot of toilet paper, as guests are tasked with turning each other into mummies! There is always the option of charades, not just rude but scary too! Or you might want your entire party to be one big game, did someone say Murder Mystery party?! Just make sure the murder happened in a really inappropriate way and place like on the toilet while eating an entire chicken.
7. Cocktails and Drinks - why not have a spirit guide (bartender) help your guests connect with the spirits through a variety of funny and inappropriate cocktails? Who wouldn't want a serving of the Witch's Cauldron brew with eyeballs and fingernails or a Tequila Mockingbird. Let's be honest most people will be there for the boos 🤣.
8. Halloween Party bag to take home! Yep, this should keep the kids entertained the next day while the parents are dealing with their raging hangovers. Even put some scary cards in there for the kids like, "Do the Dishes" and "Clean your Room".
9. Some Pranks can bring some laughs and Halloween makes it easy, weird ghost noises when guests are tasked to walk to a fake bar at the opposite end of the house, and creepy crawlies on the toilet seat.
10. Finally, you could opt for some Halloween movies playing in the background or if you aren't up for dealing with the masses a Halloween Movie Marathon complete with spooky snacks and frightfully delicious cocktails could make for the perfect Halloween night!
Have fun this Halloween, here are our top picks for the best-dressed prize and also for those who didn't make the cut!
